A, The Bigger Question Is Will You Ever Depart From Him?

1, So many times we do not realize the reality of the faithfulness of the Lord because we can become clouded by our own unfaithfulness.

Hebrews 13:5-6
5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."
6 So we may boldly say: "The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?"

> You must understand the Lord never departs from people but people depart from the LORD and some never even realize they are drifting away.

> The question of faithfulness is a human factor not a Divine one.

2 Timothy 2:11-13
11 This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him.
12 If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us.
13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.

B, We Have The Ability To Depart, Forsake, Deny, Even Renounce The Lord That Bought Us With His Blood.

1, Not that most Christians do any of these things – but they can if they so choose.

> Once saved always saved is not a Bible doctrine.

> Once saved always perfect thereafter is also not a Bible doctrine.

> We need constant contact with the LORD.

Hebrews 6:4-6
4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit,
5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come,
6 if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.

2, Fall away means to apostatize

To fall away - parapipto (par-ap-ip'-to); to fall aside, i.e. (figuratively) to apostatize: fall away.

> We fall away by choice not chance.

> It is not only departing from the LORD but departing from the will of the LORD.

3, Many people call themselves Christians – but refuse to live the Christian life. I’ve seen many of them as a pastor.

> Remaining in fellowship with the LORD also means remaining in the Christian fellowship He placed you in.

Hebrews 10:24-27
24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,
25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.

4, More times than naught the reason people refuse to remain in the fellowship the LORD placed them in because they refuse godly
correction.

Hebrews 13:7-8
7 Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct.
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Hebrews 13:17
17 Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.

5, We need one another in the LORD.

1 John 1:5-10
5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
